Hamster wheel of life Round and round we go What will make us happy We don’t know Money, fame, jewels, or trips insatiable cravings and desires a need to build empires Stalked by the hungry ghost always needing more Work, manipulate, acquire we have to fill all our desires Wishing, praying, Shopping, needing Amazon on direct dial A new dress, that new style All to feed the hungry ghost that thinks it needs more Can’t appreciate the moment It’s wondering what do I need at the store Filling up on too much food, clothes or sex Sending and receiving nonstop texts Trying to fill that giant hole anyway it can It’s haunting wail, heard throughout the land Fill me up it rattles and rants Our ears are filled with it’s loud chants Drags its chains of wounded pasts When was this spell cast? of endless neediness and excessive greediness Rose colored glasses worn by the masses that think things or a person will make them whole The hungry ghost is never full, it’s lost touch with it’s soul The answer is to look within to find the divine source Then we will be free of our unwanted host the howling moaning hungry ghost
